Easyjet has reported half-year losses of £24 million as it reveals the impacts of last year’s terrorist attacks across Europe.
The budget airline saw passengers numbers grow from 28.9 million to 31 million and sales rise slightly by 0.3 per cent but still reported a loss compared with £7 million profit for the same period last year.
Easyjet said its revenue per seat dropped 6.6 per cent after it cut prices following the attacks in 2015.
CEO Carolyn McCall said: “Easyjet has delivered a robust financial performance during the half year despite the well-publicised external events.
“We are confident that over the full year we will again grow passenger numbers, revenue and profit. As a result of Easyjet balance sheet and the Boards confidence in the future success of the business, the annual dividend payout ratio will increase by a quarter to 50% subject to AGM approval.”
