Easyjet is extending its trial of allocated seating to more routes following its launch last month.
The airline introduced the trial as a result of customer feedback saying that the existing method of unallocated seating caused extra stress to the flying experience.
Easyjet's CEO Carolyn McCall said that research had shown that the process of unallocated seating was acting as a deterrent to some passengers.
“We launched our allocated seating trial on selected routes in April and following positive feedback from our customers, we have added more routes to the trial,” said Easyjet in a statement on its website.
“In response to passenger feedback, this trial is aimed at testing whether allocated seating makes travel easy, affordable and provides a better experience for our passengers.”
The new routes include:
- Luton – Sharm el Sheikh – Luton
- Luton – Malaga – Luton
- Luton – Istanbul – Luton
- Luton – Alicante – Luton
- Glasgow – Alicante – Glasgow
- Charles de Gaulle – Marrakesh – Charles de Gaulle

Allocated seating will be offered on all flights (in both directions) on all days of the week on these routes.

£8 for up front seats (rows 2-5 on the A319 or 2-6 on an A320)
£3 for any other seat
If passengers do not pay to select their seat, then one will be allocated for them.
