Cityjet will start flying to Florence from the new year, from its base at London City airport
The Air France KLM-owned subsidiary will fly six times per week to the Italian city from January 10, using a 95-seat Avro RJ85 jet.
Flight AF5281, on weekdays, will depart London City at 9.25am, arriving into Florence at 12.40pm. On Sundays, the flight will leave at 3.05pm, arriving at 8.20pm. There is no service on Saturdays.
Flight AF5280, flying Monday to Friday, will leave Florence at 1.15pm, arriving into LCY at 2.40pm. The Sunday flight will leave at 8.55pm, arriving at 8.20pm.
The airline will also fly a limited number of services over the festive season, with flights on December 22, 24, 26 and 31, and January 2, 7 and 9.
Florence airport is a 15-minute drive from the city centre.
According to Air France, around 40% of passengers using the Italian airport are travelling on business, above the national average.
Florence, and the region of Tuscany, account for 7.5% of all Italian exports – key sectors include textiles, mechanical engineering, chemicals and pharmaceuticals.
Cityjet currently flies 600 times a week from London City to 15 destinations in the UK, Ireland and mainland Europe.
