Cimber Air, the independently-owned Danish regional carrier, is extending its route network with the addition of a daily service between Billund in Jutland (west Denmark) and Berlin Tegel, commencing 1 August 2007 with a flight time of 65 minutes.
The route to Berlin will be Cimber”s 7th scheduled destination from Billund, Denmark”s second international airport. The airline, founded in 1950 and still owned by the same family holding company, flies to the islands of Bornholm in the Baltic Sea on a seasonal basis, Bergen, Copenhagen, Munich, Oslo and Stockholm. Billund itself is something of a company town, the home of Lego and its massive theme park.
The new route will be operated by a 50-seat Bombardier CRJ200 regional jet. The Sonderborg-based airline now has an 11-strong CRJ fleet, having acquired two more of the aircraft in May and June this year.
The airline no longer flies for the Team Lufthansa regional alliance which has been abandoned.
Cimber Air provides complimentary snacks and drinks on board.
