Korean Air and Incheon Metropolitan City signed an Air Transport Industry Enhancement contract to develop Incheon International Airport
Korean Air will play a key role in developing Incheon International Airport as a gateway to Northeast Asia in both air transport and logistics.
Mr. Jonghee Lee, President and COO of Korean Air, and Sangsoo Ahn, Mayor of Incheon Metropolitan City, signed the contract yesterday at Incheon Metropolitan City Hall.
Under the contract, Korean Air will move the headquarters of Jin Air, its subsidiary premium short-haul carrier, from Deungchon-dong in Seoul to Incheon. In return, Incheon will support Jin Air for its settlement in Incheon as well as for its growth to become the city's only airline.
In addition to the agreement on developing Incheon International Airport, Korean Air will also partner with Incheon Metropolitan City to hold significant upcoming international events such as "Global Fair & Festival 2009 Incheon", as well as "Asian Games 2014 Incheon".
Partnering with Korean Air, the nation's largest flagship carrier, Incheon Metropolitan City has taken itself to the next step in developing Incheon International Airport as a hub airport of Northeast Asia in terms of transport and logistics. By locating Jin Air to Incheon area, the city has also sustained its momentum towards becoming the real "Air City".
