Brussels Airlines is to operate flights to New York for the first time in a decade, with a daily service to JFK airport commencing on June 1.
The carrier has not flown the route itself since 2002, although it does currently codeshare on fellow Star Alliance member United Airlines’ service (along with Continental and Lufthansa).
The service will be operated with A330-200 and A330-300 aircraft, featuring a “brand-new business and economy class cabin” including “flat beds” in business class. Brussels Airlines said it would announce more details about the new cabins “soon”.
Flights will depart Brussels at 10.20, landing in New York at 1235, with the return leg leaving JFK at 17.15, and landing back in Belgium at 06.25 the following day.
Brussels Airlines flies to Brussels from eight UK airports - Heathrow, Gatwick, Bristol, Birmingham, Manchester, Newcastle, Edinburgh and East Midlands.
Other carriers currently operating between Brussels and New York include American Airlines to JFK (with Iberia and BA codesharing on the route), Jet Airways (to both JFK and Newark), and Delta to JFK (with KLM codesharing).
