Brussels Airlines is to offer a new Economy Plus service on its long-haul flights.
The Belgian airline, which is part of Lufthansa Group, is introducing the service from July 1 as an alternative to its economy and business classes on flights to Africa and North America.
Economy Plus will be located in the first four rows of the economy cabin and offers extra legroom and a greater recline of 20 degrees compared to 8 degrees for normal economy seats.
Passengers also receive a glass of champagne before their meal and receive an amenity kit, hot towel, linen pillow and chocolate gift box.
To upgrade to Economy Plus, there will normally be a supplement of €120 one-way, although there is currently a “special discovery rate” of €99 available.
Brussels Airlines is also offering free upgrades for 20,000 passengers during July and August to promote the new product.
Chief commercial officer Lars Redeligx said: “We see an increasing demand for a product between business class and economy class.
“Our new Economy Plus offers more space, more comfort and more amenities at a very attractive price. After implementing our new commercial strategy successfully for short-haul flights, we are now starting to implement a new product generation also on our long-haul flights.”
Brussels Airlines is offering 32 Economy Plus seats on its fleet of Airbus 330s and has also upgraded its economy seats on these aircraft.
