British Airways has signed a codeshare agreement with Latvian airline Air Baltic.
The deal means BA passengers will be able to book flights to the Latvian capital of Riga from Gatwick airport on Air Baltic from September 23. And open up the BA network to Air Baltic travellers.
The Latvian airline operates 10 weekly services to Riga in the summer season and seven in the winter. The codeshare flights, which operate from Gatwick’s south terminal, will enable BA travellers to earn Avios points - BA’s travel rewards programme - when flying to and from Riga.
Air Baltic CEO Martin Gauss said: “Riga to London is by far the most popular city-pair for travellers starting or finishing their journey in the Baltic region.
“We are very pleased to add British Airways, UK's largest international airline and one of the world's leading global premium carriers, to our growing family of code-share partners and jointly serve passengers on the busy Riga-London market.”
Keith Williams, executive chairman of British Airways said: “The addition of Riga to our route network is fantastic news for our customers and we look forward to working with Air Baltic to introduce the delights of Latvia to a wider audience.”
Air Baltic serves more than 60 destinations from Riga.
