British Airways has rejected claims it could extend its buy-on-board economy product to long-haul.
The airline controversially scrapped complimentary catering options on short-haul economy flights and now offers food and drinks supplied by Marks and Spencer.
Speaking to The Sunday Timesto promote its £400 million investment, chief executive Alex Cruz said the new concept was “going great” and has received positive feedback from customers.
Asked if the service could be extended to long-haul economy, he said: "We might do it".
However, a statement issued by BA denied any current plans to offer it on long-haul, although it stopped short of ruling out the idea in the future.
“Like most companies, we don’t stand still and we are very focused on what customers want.
“We have no plans currently for a buy-on-board economy product on long-haul, but if that is what interests customers of the future, we will listen,” the spokesperson said.

The decision follows a number of in-flight extras that BA has stripped for its short-haul economy passengers.
