Brazilian airline GOL is to launch its first flights to Europe by offering services from Rio de Janeiro to Lisbon and Paris-Charles de Gaulle airports.
The Sao Paulo-based carrier, which was founded in 2001, said in a statement that it would start its Rio de Janeiro-Lisbon flights on 16 September, which will operate four times per week. Details of its route to Paris CDG have yet to be announced.
GOL plans to operate its new Airbus A330-900neo aircraft on the two European routes with capacity for around 300 passengers. The twin-aisle aircraft will feature GOL’s Insignia business class, alongside an economy cabin.
The airline is also planning to use these aircraft to start a route between Rio de Janeiro and New York JFK Airport from 8 July, which will operate three times per week.
GOL emerged from Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in the US in June 2025 after undergoing a 17-month restructuring programme.
