Baggage scanner staff at Stansted have voted to accept a new pay deal and called off a planned strike over the coming weekend.
Members of the GMB union, who work for Mitie, had planned to take industrial action for four days from Thursday, August 23 until Monday, August 26.
But these workers have now voted to accept a better pay deal with Mitie following talks brokered by conciliation service Acas last week.
“Providing great service to passengers is important to us so we’re delighted this situation has been resolved and we're looking forward to welcoming the hundreds of thousands of passengers that are jetting away from Stansted over the bank holiday weekend,” said Stansted in a statement.
Gary Pearce, GMB regional officer, added:“I am glad that common sense has prevailed and that Mitie has agreed to pay what GMB members have been asking for since October of last year.
“I have now given notice to the company that the strike action has now been withdrawn.”
