BAA has announced it will launch a final bid to keep its airports, after the court of appeal ruled today that it must sell off two of them.
The Spanish-owned airport operator and owner has said it will take its case to the Supreme Court, accusing the competition commission of "bias".
The Competition Commission ruled in March 2009 that BAA had a monopoly of airports around London and in central Scotland, resulting in the sale of Gatwick airport.
This decision was overturned by the Competition Appeal tribunal, which in turn was overturned today at the Court of Appeal.
The airport may now be expected to sell Stansted airport and either Glasgow or Edinburgh, unless it wins the final appeal at the highest court of the land.
A BAA spokesman said: "We note the Court's view that apparent bias in relation to a panel member existed during part of the Commission's investigation and will study this judgement carefully."
BAA plans to use the Appeal court's recognition of bias in its favour as it prepares an appeal case for the Supreme Court.
