British Airways today (February 10) unveiled its new First Class cabin on a Boeing 777 flight from Heathrow to Chicago.
The product will be tested for 90 days to obtain CAA approval. It will then be rolled out on another 73 aircraft across the airline's network.
The premium service was supposed to be launched on BA's New York JFK service, but bosses switched to the Chicago route at the last minute to avoid poor weather forecast on the East Coast of the United States.
The airline, which is likely to post record losses for the second successive year, has invested £100 million in its new brand.
British Airways' head of customer experience Mark Hassell, said: "We have contemporised First and created an intimate private jet experience onboard. We have resisted gadgets and gimmicks and focused instead on simplicity and quality. Every feature has been carefully considered and researched to ensure we are giving our customers what they want."
