BA Cityflyer will launch a new route from London City airport next January, after purchasing two new Embraer E-190 jets.
A double-daily service to Stockholm will launch on January 9, 2011, using one of the new aircraft.
From London City, the first flight (operating Monday to Friday) will leave at 9.10am, arriving into Stockholm Arlanda at 12.40pm. The second flight (operating Monday to Friday and Sunday) will leave at 6.55pm, arriving at 10.30pm.
From Stockholm, the first flight (operating Monday to Friday) will leave at 7am, arriving at London City at 8.40am. The second flight (Operating Monday to Friday and Sunday) will leave at 4.45pm, arriving at 6.25pm.
BA's wholly owned subsidiary Cityflyer is currently “in discussions” with a number of airports for the other E-190 aircraft, with the new services to be announced “in the coming months”.
The London City-based regional carrier first started operating its new Embraer fleet from the Docklands airport in April 2009, replacing its aging fleet of BAe146 jets.
It originally placed orders for five of the Embraer E-190 jets, as well as six of the E-170 model, with options for a further three 190s, two of which have now been converted.
Peter Simpson, BA CityFlyer’s managing director, said customer feedback on the new fleet has been “fantastic”.
He said: “The successful fleet introduction and customer reaction to the E-Jets has given us the confidence to expand so soon after the initial order."
