Ash from the Puyehue Cordon Caulle volcano in Chile is causing disruption to flights in Australia.
Qantas has cancelled all domestic services from Canberra until at least Thursday.
Some international services from Sydney may also be affected – passengers are being advised to contact the airline.
Virgin Australia has suspended all services on Wednesday into and out of Melbourne, until at least 1pm.
Flights from Sydney and Canberra airports have also been suspended, until 4pm tomorrow.
Australia’s civil aviation authority has put airlines under “greater than normal safety oversight”.
A spokesman said: “The Civil Aviation Safety Authority is working to ensure airlines are following the correct procedures when making decisions on flights while the volcanic ash clouds pass.”
