Air France-KLM has completed its purchase of a minority stake in Canadian carrier WestJet.
The European aviation giant has acquired a 2.3 per cent shareholding in WestJet from its joint venture partner Delta Air Lines. The proposed deal was first announced in May.
Air France-KLM said it has been partnering with WestJet since 2009 and this relationship has expanded in recent years to include codeshare deals and reciprocal benefits for loyalty programme members.
Alexis von Hoensbroech, CEO of the WestJet Group, added: “This closing marks a milestone in our airline partnerships, building on existing relationships and reflecting confidence in WestJet's strategy, performance and people.
"We are proud to welcome our new airline shareholders and look forward to further strengthening our partnerships with their airlines to create long-term value for guests."
Earlier this year, Air France-KLM announced plans to take a majority stake in Scandinavian airline SAS, which is expected to be completed in the second half of 2026.
