Air Berlin is introducing a business class service on domestic and European flights, as it aims to escape long-term financial problems.
The German airline, which will now offer the product on short, medium and long-haul flights, said it’s “making key strategic decisions” to “pave the way for a more sustainable future”.
It will reserve the first row of the cabin for business class passengers, who will enjoy priority check-in and boarding, fast-track security, lounge access, in-flight food service with complimentary drinks included.
Passengers will also receive a flexible ticket which can be rebooked or refunded at no additional cost and free seat reservation.
Members of Air Berlin’s frequent flyer programme, ‘topbonus’, can collect double miles for each Business Class flight.
Stefan Pichler, CEO, Air Berlin, says: “By introducing a Business Class on short and medium-haul flights, we are making key strategic decisions that will pave the way to a sustainable future for the company and that will clearly position Airberlin in the premium sector of European airlines.
“The new premium product will make us more attractive, particularly for business travellers and frequent flyers, and we now offer a seamless business class experience on the global route network by Airberlin and our partner airlines.”
