Stobart Air, which operates Aer Lingus Regional services,
has announced it will establish a new base at Belfast City airport, launching
six routes to England and Scotland from 27 August.
Services will begin on a phased basis in line with passenger
demand, according to Stobart Air. These will start with flights to Edinburgh on
27 August, followed by Exeter on 28 August, Manchester and Birmingham on 14
September, and East Midlands and Leeds Bradford from 1 October. The carrier
will base five ATR72-600 aircraft at Belfast City to operate the flights.
The new flights mean Stobart Air will operate 30 Aer Lingus
Regional routes from bases in Dublin, Cork and Belfast. The carrier began resuming flights earlier this month.
