Starwood Hotels is to bring its W brand to India with the opening of the W Mumbai by 2015.
The property will be part of the 55-storey Namaste Tower overlooking the Mahalaxmi racecourse and will be developed with Jaguar Buildcon. The tower will be shaped like clasped hands and is expected to be a new landmark in the city.
The hotel will have more than 350 rooms including two WOW Suites and one Extreme WOW suite plus two restaurants and a “destination” bar.
“Luxury in India has existed in its traditional form, but with the entry of W, there is an opportunity to introduce luxury in its modern and trend-setting sense," said Gurinderjit Singh, managing director of Jaguar Buildcon.
Starwood said Delhi, Goa and Kerala were targets for future W Hotels and Retreats developments in India.
