Luxury hotel group Von Essen has appointed Ernst and Young as official administrators, after running into financial difficulties.
Reports suggest that Von Essen Hotels had fallen behind on interest payments on bank loans.
The group’s 28 properties include Cliveden, the Berkshire country house hotel made famous by the Profumo affair, Amberley Castle in West Sussex and the new Hotel Verta in London
Ernst and Young has confirmed that Alan Bloom, Chris Marsden and Angela Swarbrick have been appointed joint adminstrators to Von Essen Hotels limited.
According to the financial services firm, the hotels themselves are not in administration and will continue to trade as usual.
Swarbrick said: “It is business as normal for the hotels and customers of Von Essen Hotels can continue to enjoy their stay.”
