The UK tops the European list for the greatest number of hotels in the pipeline, according to the latest figures from STR Global.
The hotel analysts said at the end of June, Britain had 26,653 rooms in the pipeline with a further 11,381 under construction.
Germany with 16,825 rooms and Russia with 16,067 were next on the list.
STR Global also said the UK capital London topped the list in key markets with 8,072 rooms in the pipeline.
Berlin with 4,095 rooms, Moscow (3,999) and Vienna (3,256) were the other leading cities in the list.
There are a total of 678 hotels with 118,126 rooms in the European pipeline plus 414 properties with 58,577 rooms under construction, STR Global said.
The breakdown of hotel categories showed that upscale properties with 28,331 rooms led the field followed by midscale with F&B second with 18,993.
