Budget hotel brand Travelodge has upgraded another 25 properties in the UK as it continues to roll out its new “budget-luxe” design.
Travelodge announced plans for the upgrade of its UK hotels last year, which includes renovated “next generation” rooms, a new bar cafe and a redesigned reception area.
The first of the revamped properties were completed last year and a further 25 hotels have undergone the upgrade so far in 2023, with more properties due to be turned into budget-luxe hotels in the coming months.
Hotels to have already completed the upgrade include Travelodge’s two largest properties in the London districts of Covent Garden and Kings Cross. Other new budget-luxe hotels include locations in Cheltenham, Ipswich, Oxford, Newport and Southampton.
Steve Bennett, Travelodge’s chief property and development officer, said: “We are making good progress with our budget-luxe UK hotel upgrade programme and our current schedule includes upgrading a further 55 hotels this year.
“This upgrade is our most radical transformation to date and is a complete overhaul of our existing design. Customer feedback has been extremely positive for our budget-luxe design and by the end of this year, around 20 per cent of our UK hotels will feature our premium budget-luxe design.”
Travelodge’s budget-luxe upgrade also includes several sustainable initiatives including carpet made from recycled fishing nets and plastic bottles, low-energy lighting and aerated bathroom showers and taps to reduce water usage.
