Staycity Group has opened a new property under its Wilde Aparthotels brand in Berlin, with a further location due to launch in Edinburgh next month.
Wilde Aparthotels by Staycity, Berlin, Checkpoint Charlie (pictured) is the second property for the brand and the group’s first in Germany. Featuring 48 apartments, the development is part of a new scheme occupying what was formerly the best-known crossing point of the Berlin Wall, which divided East and West Berlin during the Cold War.
The brand’s third property will open in Edinburgh’s Grassmarket area in December and will offer 128 studio, one and two-bedroom apartments. Other facilities include a gym, guest lounge and Staycafe selling snacks, continental breakfast and hot and cold drinks. The building forms part of a wider mixed-use development comprising residential and commercial units, as well as student accommodation.
Apartments in both properties feature ‘XL’-sized beds with Hypnos mattresses, Grohe rainfall shower and a fully equipped kitchen. Guests also have access to laundry facilities, 24-hour reception and the option of self check-in.
“One of the key prerequisites for Wilde is that they’re central t the heart of the city,” commented Staycity Group CEO and co-founder Tom Walsh. “Both the Berlin and Edinburgh properties are in stunning locations with the best each city has to offer on their doorstep. It’s exciting to see the Wilde brand taking shape as we add to the estate.”
The first Wilde Aparthotel opened in London’s Covent Garden in 2018.
The Berlin opening follows the acquisition of six sites by Staycity including a resort-style property in Paris and locations in Venice and Dublin. The company has also signed an agreement with Premier Inn to open a dual-branded building in London’s Paddington.
