Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide today announced a return to the Iraq market with a brace of hotels in Erbil - a 250-room Four Points and 260-room Sheraton. Both properties aim to open in 2015.
The Sheraton, located on the city's new ring road located around 10 minutes from the airport, will comprise 221 rooms and 39 suites along with Sheraton Sweet Sleeper beds, club lounge, gym, spa and indoor and outdoor pools as well as a 720sqm ballroom, conference centre, four meeting rooms and business centre with six private offices.
The Four Points, also close to the airport, will contain the Four Comfort bed, free wifi and extensive dining, conference and leisure facilities.
It marks a long-awaited to return for Starwood in Iraq, which operated Sheraton hotels in Baghdad and Basra in the early 1980s but withdrew following the first Gulf War.
