Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts will open two luxury hotels in Puxi, Shanghai in 2011.
The properties will be the focal points of the new Jing An Kerry Centre, a business, retail, entertainment, dining and conference complex situated in the Jing An District.
The first hotel, Jing An Shangri-La will include 347 guestrooms, restaurants, a spa and health club and pool. It will occupy the top 24 floors of a 58-storey building, with the lower floors comprising of restaurants, offices and retail shops.
The Jing An Kerry Centre Hotel will offer 600 rooms and include a 3,100sq m (33,400sq ft) health club and a pool with an outdoor terrace, plus a fifth floor garden as a conference pre-function area.
Both hotels will share 4,570sq m (49,200sq ft) of meeting and conference space located between the two properties, and between them they will offer 2,200sq m (23,700sq ft) of function rooms.
”The addition of two hotels in Puxi, together with our Shangri-La hotel in Pudong, will allow us to satisfy the ever-increasing demand for luxury accommodation and comprehensive meeting facilities in Shanghai,” said Shangri-La chief executive officer and managing director, Giovanni Angelini.
The hotels will have direct access to the underground subway stations and be interconnected by enclosed walkways and bridges.
Pudong International Airport is a 45-minute drive away, and Hongqiao Airport is 20 minutes.
