ExCeL London - 24-25 February 2021
Radisson Hotel Group is expanding its footprint in Southern Europe with the signing of eight new properties across Spain, Portugal and Italy.
The group is planning to open a Radisson RED hotel in Madrid in 2021, which will feature around 200 rooms, as well as two Radisson Collection properties – the 137-room Gran Via Bilbao opening in early 2021 and the 89-room Magdalena Plaza Seville opening in Q2 2020.
In Portugal, the company will add two Radisson RED properties in Lisbon and Porto, both of which are due to open in 2021 and will offer 290 rooms and 278 rooms respectively.
Meanwhile, Italy will see the opening of two Radisson Collection hotels. Palazzo Touring Club Milan is due to open in 2020 and is set within the headquarters of the oldest Italian touristic organisation, the Touring Club Italiano. Santa Sofia Milan will feature 160 guest rooms, including 43 junior suites and 11 suites alongside meeting and events spaces. Lastly, Radisson Blu GHR Hotel in Rome is due to be fully renovated by Q1 2021 and will offer 297 rooms.
The signings add to Radisson Hotel Group’s growing global portfolio, particularly in the Radisson Collection, which has grown to 30 hotels in EMEA within the last 18 months. Other recent deals include the addition of the May Fair London, while Radisson RED is due to open a number of properties across Europe, including its first in London.
Elie Younes, EVP and chief development officer, said: “We continue accelerating our expansion plan in Southern Europe. With nine strategic recent signings in Rome, Milan, Porto and Lisbon, we now add three new Spanish hotels in Madrid, Seville and Bilbao. Leveraging Radisson Blu as the largest upper-upscale brand in Europe, we now introduce to our owners and guests further opportunities in premium lifestyle with two Radisson Collection hotels in Seville and Bilbao and a bold Radisson RED in the great city of Madrid. This is thanks to the trust of our owners and the great efforts of our people.”
