Nassetta new Hilton ceo
Hilton Hotels has appointed Chris Nassetta as its new ceo.Mr Nassetta, who takes up his new post in at the end of November, was previously ceo of Host Hotels.The appointment comes a week after Hilton's takeover by The Blackstone Group, a private equity company, was completed.Hilton had earlier this year indicated that Matthew Hart, its president and chief operating officer, would take over as ceo when Steve Bollenbach stepped down.Mr Hart is stepping down from both his positions but will serve on the Hilton board.Mr Nassetta was appointed ceo of Host, one of the largest luxury hotel chains in the world, in 2000.He was previously the founder of the Bailey Capital Corporation in 1991.
Six new appointments at CWT UK
Carlson Wagonlit Travel has made six new appointments to its sales and public sector staff in the UK.Sandy Moring joins as director account management public sector, reporting to Nigel Turner, director of public sector UK.Ms Moring was previously corporate accounts director at Ian Allan travel, a UK independent agency.Nathan Rumgay joins from Air New Zealand, where he worked in UK corporate and leisure sales, and becomes account manager public sector.A third recruit is Nicola Tromans who also becomes account manager public sector. Previously Ms Tromans worked for Accor Hotels as senior key account manager.Michael Potter is CWT UK's new global account manager. He joins from Travelocity Business where he was senior business development manager. He has also worked for bmi.Fatima Domingos joins from Thistle ands Guoman Hotels where she was national account director business travel. Her new role at Carlson is as sales manager in the UK team.Lesley Collins rejoins CWT as a sales development manager after a spell with Ian Allan Travel as director of sales.
Carling moves up as Spence steps aside
Debbie Carling will take charge of FCm Travel Solutions UK when current managing director Alan Spence steps aside at the end of the year.Ms Carling, who joined the company 23 years ago when it traded as Britannia Travel, assumes the role of executive managing director on January 1, 2008.Mr Spence who founded Britannia and later sold it to FCm will stay with the company on a part time basis for three years, working on specific projects.She has held her current post of commercial director for 14 years.
Avis UK expands sales team...
Avis UK has doubled the size of its business travel sales team.Kelly Jones who has worked for the car rental company since 2003, becomes national account director. Her previous role was as manager of the SME corporate accounts team.Sally Pomroy becomes national account manager. She has 16 years' experience in the car rental industry and has previously worked for Daewoo Cars and Masterdrive Contract Hire.The third new team member is Darryl Green who is appointed sales support executive working on the smaller business travel accounts. He joined Avis in 2001.All will work under Lisa Eastwood who was recently promoted to UK sales manager and report to Roger Grainger, UK sales director.
...And appoints new CSR manager
Avis has appointed Jason van Zuydam as its new corporate social responsibility manager for the EAMEA region.His role will be to increase the car rental company's focus on CSR across the region.He previously worked as quality and environmental adviser in the UK for what Avis said is a "large multi-national managed services company."
