Marriott International is to open a new hotel 15 minutes north of Dublin Airport ” the Ashbourne Marriott Hotel. The hotel group has signed a franchise agreement with owners John McCabe, Paddy Kelly and John Walsh, and the hotel is due to open early next year. It will be operated by Interstate Hotels & Resorts.
The hotel will include 9,254 sq ft (2,821 sq m) of conference and meeting facilities, comprising a 6,133 sq ft ballroom (1863 sq m) that can be divided into three sections. The remaining area consists of meeting rooms of varying sizes. The hotel will also have a spa with an indoor pool, sauna, steam room, plunge pool and fitness area, with three treatment rooms offering various beauty packages.
The new property is a 30 minute drive from central Dublin, but in close vicinity are a number of golf courses and race courses, including the Fairyhouse ” home of the Irish Grand National.
Owner and McCabe Builders chief executive John McCabe explained the choice of location: ”We have set out to build a landmark, state-of-the-art building in an area that is ideally located close to the airport and will be a convenient meeting point for travellers from Derry and Belfast.”
Interstate Hotels & Resorts European vice president Sean Worker added: ”We aim to provide the local and business markets with a full-service hotel that will cater to the relaxation and entertainment needs of the surrounding area while offering a full range of high-end facilities to the business and conference market.”
