Hilton Hotels Corporation has signed a franchise deal for a new hotel near Heathrow”s Terminal 5, scheduled to open in early 2010.
Located in Poyle ” just west of junction 14 on the M25 motorway, the closest exit to T5 - the new 350-room property will be the group”s second at Heathrow, complementing its 395-room hotel at T4.
The hotel is the fourth in a 2007 agreement signed by Hilton with Shiva Hotels to open 15 new properties in the UK. It will be operated under a 20-year franchise.
”London has established itself as one of the world”s top destinations, particularly with the 2012 Olympics just around the corner,” said Hilton regional vice president of operations, John Philip.
”The Heathrow deal takes total capital committed to the development of the Hilton brand in London to more than $500m (”251m) in the past two years, putting us well on track to double the UK & Ireland estate to 150 hotels in the next five to ten years.”
The group has also signed a contract to offer complimentary shuttle bus services - commencing this March - to and from its hotel at T4.
T5 will open on 27 March, and is the largest airport development ever undertaken in the UK. Costing ”4.3bn, it will be used exclusively by British Airways which will operate 380 flights into and out of the terminal from day one.
