Marriott International is to bring its Courtyard brand to Japan later this year, with the opening of the Courtyard by Marriott Tokyo Ginza Hotel in April. The former Renaissance Tokyo Hotel Ginza Tobu is to be transformed into what Marriott calls ”the hotel designed for business travellers by business travellers,” in keeping with other Courtyard properties.
An extensive refurbishment plan is in place for the hotel. Prior to the property changing names the lobby, lobby lounge and two floors of guestrooms will be renovated and a fitness centre added. After the conversion in April the remainder of the hotel will undergo renovation and new amenities such as a concierge desk, chapel, barber/beauty shop and changing room for wedding parties will be added.
”We are excited to introduce Courtyard in Japan,” said Marriott International president and managing director lodging Ed Fuller. ”Because of the changing requirements of the Japanese and international business traveller, we are confident that this Courtyard will be enormously successful.
”The guest room and its amenities are the key to success for most business travellers, especially those in the moderate sector. Our Courtyard guests want their accommodations to be enough like home to provide comfort, security and escape while also enabling them to stay on top of their work requirements and to have easy access to connectivity.”
