Marriott International will be opening a 202-room deluxe hotel at Kamala Cove in Phuket, Thailand.
Phuket Marriott Resort & Spa is the 11th property the group currently has under construction in the country, and the fifth it is developing with Destination Properties.
A renovation of the Kamala Terrace Resort, which was closed in 2005, the hotel is on a hill south of Kamala Beach, and will offer rooms with terraces and panoramic sea views, flat screen TVs, internet access and safes. For conferences there will be a 225sq m (2,420sq ft) ballroom which will be divisible into two sections and three individual meeting rooms, each of 40sq m.
Amenities include a business and fitness centre, pool - apparently the largest in Phuket - and two restaurants.
”When this resort opens, it will be our fifth property and third hotel brand on Phuket, the largest and most-visited island in Thailand,” said president and managing director of international lodging for Marriott, Ed Fuller.
”It positions us to offer travelers a lodging choice in the luxury, upscale and upper-moderate tiers.”
