Marriott International is to open a total of 59 hotels in Thailand, China and India by 2010.
The six hotels announced today will add to the 53 previously that are currently under construction. This growth will add a third more hotels and almost 50% more rooms to Marriott”s presence in Asia-pacific during the next 36 months.
They are all expected to open at the same time in China, Fiji, India, Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore and New Zealand.
”Our ability to have so many hotels coming on line in Asia ” Pacific during the next 36 months rests, in part on the success that our existing portfolio is enjoying in the region.” said president and managing director, Ed Fuller.
Fuller added: ”Our goal is to appeal to a wide range of travellers, both those visiting the region from other parts of the world as well as those who are travelling intra-regionally.”
”We are developing with our local investors and partners will be recognised and appreciated for their cosmopolitan amenities, sophistication, and connectivity.”
Marriott has signed 10 projects in Thailand alone and says it will soon be the largest international hotel operator in Asia”s premier resort destination.
