Liverpool now offers visitors five-star accommodation for the first time, as Merchant Living officially launches its services and is given full marks by VisitBritain”s newly introduced grading system for serviced apartments.
Although the company has operated for some time under its former name, Liverpool Serviced Apartments, it kept relatively quiet due to its exclusive clientele of celebrities, as well as Liverpool and Everton footballers.
However, a spokesperson for Merchant Living told ABTN that the company decided to re-brand and target the corporate market by making itself more public, hoping that next year”s Capital of Culture label will bring new business to the area and provide opportunities for expansion.
The firm currently has three locations in Liverpool: one in the city centre and two others in suburbs Mossley Hill and Woolton Village, ideal for longer staying guests. It hopes to sign a further 26 apartments in the near future, the spokesperson confirmed, which will all be central.
Company founder, Jim Beal, explained the reason to re-position: ”A growing trend in the hotel industry in recent times has seen the introduction of hotel suites providing more space and allowing the guest to feel more at home whilst living away.
”As guest expectations continue to rise and Liverpool continues to see a surge in visitor numbers, we responded with the introduction of executive apartments. Simply put, you wouldn”t want to live in a hotel, but you would want to live in our apartments.”
As you would expect from accommodation originally designed for English football teams, all apartments feature integrated entertainment systems, wide screen TVs, and broadband facilities, as well as whirlpool baths ” some of which have overhead TVs. Each kitchen is also fitted with the most advanced equipment and state-of-the-art security systems surrounding the properties, including electric gates, ensure complete privacy.
