Leonardo Hotels Central Europe has acquired four IntercityHotels in Nuremberg, Freiburg, Magdeburg and Erfurt, with plans to rebadge each property following the completion of “comprehensive” renovation works.
With this acquisition – the financial terms of which were not disclosed – the Berlin-based hotel group expands its presence in Germany to 73 hotels, adding 638 rooms.
Each of the four newly-acquired properties is situated near a railway station and will remain open throughout the renovations, operating under a white label brand until works are completed in the second quarter of the year, the company said.
All guest rooms will be refreshed, the company added, while upgrades to bathrooms and public areas will be carried out “at some of the hotels”.
Leonardo Hotels Central Europe managing director Yoram Biton described the acquisition as “a major milestone in our growth strategy”, which will marl the brand's debut in Freiburg and Magdeburg, and expand its footprint in Erfurt and Nuremberg.
Part of the Fattel Hotel Group, Leonardo operates 119 hotels throughout Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Poland, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania, Spain, Italy and France.
