Hotel chain Jumeirah is opening the Beetham Tower Hotel in London in 2011. It is the group”s third London property after the Carlton Tower and Jumeirah Lowndes Hotel, which reopened recently.
Jumeirah has signed an agreement with the Beetham Organisation to build the £600m ($1,113m) Jumeirah Beetham Tower on London”s riverbank. Designed by Ian Simpson Architects, the 180m tower will be at the junction of Blackfriars Bridge and Blackfriars Road, and its planned observation deck will sit 45m higher than the London Eye, subject to planning permission.
The hotel will take up the lower half of Beetham Tower, with 261 rooms. Above the hotel will be residential apartments and penthouses, with a further 32 homes available in an adjacent building.
The public will have access to a five-star viewing gallery at the top of the tower, as well as a plaza on the ground floor.
