InterContinental Hotel Group (IHG) has signed a multi-brand management contract for three hotels in Changzhou, a key Eastern China city near Shanghai.
The three new build properties are to be developed by leading Hong Kong retail investment and real estate development company, Top Spring Group and form part of an integrated city centre commercial complex with 580,000sq m of retail, office, exhibition and entertainment space.
First to open with 208 rooms is the Holiday Inn Express City Centre Changzhou next year, followed by a Crowne Plaza and another Holiday Inn Express in 2011, with 288 and 308 rooms respectively.
IHG currently operates some 66 hotels throughout China and has more than 70 under development, making it the largest hotel group in the country.
The company also launched a franchising agreement programme for its Holiday Inn Express brand in April of this year to further its presence in China, with more than 20 management contracts added to its portfolio so far.
”Top Spring Group has significant knowledge and expertise in China”s real estate market and we are pleased to partner with them as they grow their hotel portfolio across China,” said IHG Asia Pacific CEO, Tony Smith.
”We recognise the growing needs of the hotel industry in Changzhou and other parts of China, and we are delighted to be partnering with IHG, the world”s largest hotel group by number of rooms, to launch the new hotels in Landmark International Commercial Centre,” added Top Spring Group chairman and management director, Wong Chun Hong.
