InterContinental Hotel Group (IHG) is to open its first Candlewood Suites property outside the US next month in Mont”al, Quebec. The new hotel is one of several the company plans to develop in Canada during the next couple of years.
”Demand growth for extended-stay hotels continues to exceed the rate of supply growth in countries outside of the US, including Canada,” said Candlewood Suites vice president brand management, Gina LaBarre.
”With fewer than 40 branded extended-stay hotels in Canada, the market has been served to date by ”all-suite” hotels or corporate apartment hotels, which don”t necessarily meet the needs of extended-stay guests seeking ”just-like-home” accommodations.”
Other future locations for the brand in Canada include Toronto, where a site has now been approved, as well as key target markets in the provinces of Alberta, British Colombia and further developments in Ontario and Quebec.
The 147-room Candlewood Suites Montr”al-Centre Ville is one of the largest properties operated by the brand, located on the east side of the city”s downtown area on the border of Old Mont”al and Chinatown.
All rooms feature a full kitchen, large workspace with comfortable desk chair and overhead lighting, as well as free high-speed internet access, free local calls and DVD and CD players.
Other complimentary amenities include 24-hour laundry, fitness centre and Lending Library, where a selection of CDs and DVDs are available. In keeping with the brand identity, a 24-hour Candlewood Cupboard provides guests with a variety of drinks and snacks that can be purchased via the company”s honour system.
