IHG plans to open an 11-story hotel in Venezuela”s second largest city, Maracaibo, a huge commercial centre in the western state of Zulia.
Slated to open by the end of the year, InterContinental Maracaibo - the group”s second property in the city and fourth in Venezuela - will offer 265 rooms, a presidential suite, club lounge, restaurant, bars, 24h gym and pool.
There will be multi-purpose rooms for corporate and social functions, including ten high-technology meeting rooms that can accommodate up to 50 people, and two grand ballrooms with a capacity of 700 guests.
Business travellers will also be provided with Insider Experience Packages telling them about the area.

Maracaibo is a vital oil region in a country with some of the largest reserves in the Western Hemisphere. Venezuela is the world's fifth largest net exporter, meeting around 15% of US requirements.
”IHG has had a presence in Venezuela for more than 50 years and we have always believed in its strong hospitality and tourism industry,” said IHG area president Alvaro Diago. ”The signing of InterContinental Maracaibo demonstrates our promise to grow our brands throughout the region.”
