Limerick”s status as a booming city has been underlined with another prestigious hotel opening in the western Ireland location.
Marriott International has opened its doors on a new 94-room Limerick property” the operation”s sixth venture in the country.
Trading under a franchise agreement with Irresitible Hotels, a sister company of Castletroy Park Management, will feature 84 residential apartment units and ten retail outlets on Henry Street in the heart of Limerick City.
The hotel is around a 20min drive from Shannon Airport or a two-hour drive and two-and-a-half train journey from Dublin.
”We are confident this hotel will be a welcome addition to the lodging supply in Limerick for both business and leisure travellers,” said Marriott International president and managing director, international lodging, Ed Fuller.
And the building nods to its past too, with its Savoy Bar echoing the Marriott”s former life as the Savoy Theatre and Cinema.
For conferences and social events, the Limerick Marriott offers ten conference rooms, banqueting and private dining suites with capacity from two to 180 guests. There is also a swimming pool, concierge lounge, business centre and terraced gardens with views of Limerick City and the Shannon river.
The news follows hot on the heels of Hilton”s recent opening of its Limerick hotel, featuring 184 rooms, with a dedicated business traveller floor, as well as a function facility for 450 guests.
Nearby Shannon Airport has long been a stop-over point for US airlines continuing onto Europe, but is also a transatlantic gateway in its own right.
