Hilton Hotels Corporation today (18 December) announced that it is set to open its first hotel in Astana, Kazakhstan in an agreement with Expo-Center Astana.
It will be located in the capital”s rapidly developing Special Economic Zone called ”Astana ” New City”, the administrative centre of the country which is home to many diplomatic and international commercial organisations.
”Kazakhstan”s fast developing economy is enjoying remarkable growth and has provided us with a compelling reason to introduce our first hotel and gain a foothold in this country, said Hilton Hotels Europe president Wolfgang M. Neumann.
”This move illustrates Hilton”s commitment to expanding in key emerging markets. There is significant and untapped potential in both the business and leisure sectors.”
With 237 rooms, Hilton Astana will offer business travellers an executive lounge, conference and meeting facilities, a business centre, plus health club, indoor pool, two restaurants and complimentary parking.
”The introduction of a new Hilton hotel will add real value to our capital city, not only offering outstanding accommodation, but also providing guests with the high standards that you would associate with one of the world”s leading hospitality companies,” said Expo-centre Astana shareholder, Mr. Kurmanali Ashakov.
Hilton Hotels has recently announced plans to develop approximately 50 hotels in Russia, as part of two multi-unit deals expected to be signed early next year.
A further property is planned to open in Baku, Azerbaijan in 2010.
