Luxury hotel alliance Great Hotels of the World welcomed 63 new members last year, growing its portfolio to more than 200 properties.
The alliance attributed its growth to an overhaul in sales and marketing strategies, including the launch of the Pure Lifestyle Collection.
The collection aims to market properties according to the experience guests can have within a set of nine niche areas, such as food and golf.
Great Hotels is in the process of launching new websites, including puregolfhotels.com and puregourmethotels.com, which will feature pictures, videos and links to social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter for guests to share their experiences.
The alliance has also developed its services for meetings and events organisers, organising site inspection trips to their member hotels, launching a free venue-finder service and offering incentives for meeting planners.
Carly Gotz, group director of sales and marketing at Great Hotels of the World said: “We’ve developed our services to respond to the ever-changing demands of modern hoteliers. It’s an exciting time for us and we’ve seen a surge in demand for membership which we anticipate to grow even further in 2011.”
