Ian Burnley has left the board of Expotel with immediate effect.
It is unclear where Burnley, who has been the CEO of Expotel for the past five years, will go next.
During his time at Expotel, Burnley saw the business expand its operations and complete four acquisitions, and was a key player in Phoenix Equity Partners’ acquisition of the business.
Richard Lovell, currently non-executive chairman of the Expotel Group, will lead the search for a successor to Burnley.
In the meantime Lovell will take over as executive chairman of the group, which includes Expotel, Venues Event Management and NIS.
Lovell said: “The business is evolving from an HBA (hotel booking agency) into a strong TMC (travel management company) and we have exciting plans to consolidate this position by expanding our core offering, as well as to continue to acquire other high quality businesses.
“The group remains financially strong and is making excellent headway in a tough market having recently signed over £50m of incremental business across the government and corporate sectors.”
