IHG is to open a Crowne Plaza hotel in Crawley this October following a franchise agreement with owner, Crimson Hotels.
Located 5.6km (3.5mi) from Gatwick Airport and currently operating as the Clarion Hotel, the property is undergoing extensive refurbishments to all public spaces and guest rooms, with a number of walls being knocked down to create two rooms where previously there were three.
In-room facilities are also being upgraded to include wi-fi access, security systems, flat screen LCD TVs and re-styled bathrooms with power showers.
Business guests are to benefit from the signature Crowne Plaza Club Lounge, offering complementary business services, as well as three additional meeting rooms that allow the hotel to accommodate up to 400 delegates for events.
Eight Club rooms have also been added to the property, with a further block of 50 to open within 12 months.
Its health club boasts the area”s largest hotel swimming pool, along with a spa pool, fully equipped gym, sauna and steam rooms.
The hotel does not offer shuttle services to and from the airport, leaving guests with a choice of taxi or train services each of which take 10 minutes to reach Gatwick. It does, however, have parking facilities for 238 vehicles at a daily charge of ”5 ($10).
”This is a great strategic location and a great opportunity for Crowne Plaza, which offers business travellers a comfortable and relaxing environment in which to work and rest,” said IHG managing director EMEA, Richard Hartman.
