City Apartments has added a fifth property to its portfolio of serviced apartments, although the building has been in the company”s hands for some time.
The new London studios average 93sq m (1,000sq ft), and are a first for the UK serviced apartment market in terms of size. The four apartments all have wireless internet, flat-screen TV all with SKY Digital services and a DVD player, sound system, and fully fitted kitchen and bathroom with every essential from toothpaste to bread and milk.
The London warehouse at 10-13 Newbury House was formerly a meat store for Smithfield markets, more recently the offices for the staff of City Apartments.
The company rents out its apartments on a weekly rate averaging ”1000p/w ($1,910). They are ideal for those travelling for longer periods of time who would rather live in a more home-like setting than a hotel can provide.
However, as City Apartments general manager Steve Thorne told ABTN, ”we need to adjust the way both companies and individuals think. There may not be a hotel restaurant or a spa, but we”re on call 24 hours a day just like a hotel. We offer a more relaxed atmosphere where you can cook yourself a simple meal, invite friends and colleagues back for a take-away, and feel a little more like you”re at home.”
