Carlson and Rezidor Hotel Group are to integrate their operations under the new banner of The Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group.
The group, which will launch a new website - carlsonrezidor.com - on February 1, said it wanted to be seen as "one global hotel company" by travel buyers following the move.
The new company will have more than 1,300 hotels across 80 countries and brands include Radisson Blu, Radisson, Country Inns & Suites By Carlson, Park Inn by Radisson, Hotel Missoni and Park Plaza.
However the combination of the new brands is not a merger as both Carlson and Rezidor will retain their separate legal status and ownership structure.
"Carlson and Rezidor have a long common history and have grown together over the past 17 years," said Hubert Joly, president & CEO, Carlson. "Going to market as one is a next and natural step."
Kurt Ritter, president and CEO of Rezidor, added: “The goal of this development is to generate more attractive financial returns for the owners and greater value for all shareholders, to be perceived by business partners around the world as one global hotel company, to offer more compelling and consistent value propositions to the guests, and to offer global career and development opportunities to the staff”
Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group expects to generate more than $400 million in additional revenues by 2015 through combining as one hotel group.
Part of the new commercial drive will see greater emphasis on Club Carlson, its loyalty programme.
