Independent hotelier Aston Hotels has opened its first Scottish property. The Aston Hotel Dumfries opened earlier this month with the ribbon cut by tourist association VisitScotland chairman Peter Lederer (pictured right). The move follows on the back of the brand"s other hotel - The Aston Hotel Darlington.
The supplier claims its property is a stylish superior standard hotel that complements the adjacent and newly refurbished Easterbrook Hall and Conference Centre in Dumfries & Galloway.
The 71-room hotel is geared entirely to business travellers. It has free wifi internet access in all rooms and public areas, and offers private rooms for conferences or dining for up to 80 delegates. The hotel"s public areas are contained in the original Victorian building, while the guest rooms are housed in a modern addition made from glass and copper.
A company spokesperson said: "Our mission is to bridge the gap in the market between top end hotels and basic budget alternatives."
Aston Hotel Dumfries general manager Mike Phillips commented: "The surrounding environment of landscaped parkland offers a calm background for those who have perhaps had a stressful, busy day. Coupled with the range of leisure pursuits available on the doorstep, from golf to tank driving, there is something to suit every guest"s need. Our aim when creating this hotel was to host superior facilities at affordable prices"and to offer a home from home for business travellers."
