American Express has agreed a deal with Trip Advisor allowing card holders to directly connect their Amex accounts with their profiles on the reviews website.
Under the initiative, Amex customers will be able to write reviews on Trip Advisor under the banner “Amex Card Member Review” and have access to exclusive offers and “hotspot lists” compiled through other Amex customers’ spending data.
Amex said that individual card holder account information would be held in a secure and protected American Express system with no member data passed to Trip Advisor.
Leslie Berland, Amex’s senior vice president, digital partnerships and development, said: "This partnership with Trip Advisor – the world's largest travel community – represents the intersection of technology, data, community and commerce to add relevant context to our card members' reviews."
Card holders can leave a review on Trip Advisor after using their Amex card in the establishment they write about. They will also receive a one-off statement credit of £5 from Amex when they post their first review.
Severine Philardeau, Trip Advisor’s vice president of partnerships, added: “By connecting their American Express cards to Trip Advisor, card members get access to content and exclusive offers provided by American Express merchants.”
