Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide Inc has announced plans for the first aloft hotel in the Middle East ” aloft Abu Dhabi.
In a partnership with Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company (ADNEC) construction is planned for 2008 and scheduled for completion by late 2009.
The 408-room hotel will be in the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre, a ”micro-city” of office towers, luxury hotels, residences, restaurants and shops just 15 minutes from the international airport.
”Abu Dhabi is a prime location for the first aloft hotel in the Middle East,” said aloft and element hotels worldwide vice president, Brian McGuinness.
Aloft Abu Dhabi rooms feature a combination high-tech office and entertainment facilities including wireless internet access, flat panel HDTV, plus there are three food outlets and a gym.
Aloft is expecting to benefit from direct access to the Exhibition Centre and the commercial components of Capital Centre.
McGuiness added: ”This development marks the start of what we hope will be a long-term relationship with ADNEC, as we bring the new twist in travel to the Middle East.”
