Accor has announced plans to sell off 450 hotels between 2010 and 2013.
The hotels form a part of the 1600 hotels currently owned outright or operated under fixed leases.
The change of ownership structure, under the group's "asset-light" plans, means the hotel group will primarily operate under franchise or management contracts.
Accor said its planned disposals for 2010 will "have a €450 million impact".
By 2012 the hotel group wants to open up to 40,000 rooms a year, with hotels operated under management contracts or franchise agreements accounting for more than 80% of the new rooms.
The move to the new model follows the group's demerger between its hotels and services divisions, due to be finalised in June.
The hotel group will also reposition its Suitehotel brand within Novotel. The new Suite Novotel brand will be launched this summer.
