French hotel giant Accor is adding four more hotels to its UK portfolio with new properties in London and Edinburgh.
Accor has agreed deals to add one new hotel in London’s Canary Wharf financial district and another three in the Scottish capital.
The London property will be branded as a Novotel and will have 310 rooms when it opens in 2015.
In Edinburgh, Accor will open an Ibis Styles hotel on St Andrews Square in the second half of 2013 which will have 103 rooms.
There will also be two new Ibis properties at Edinburgh Park and SoCo Edinburgh which will open in 2013 and 2014 respectively.
Accor is on a major expansion drive in the UK with the aim of increasing its hotel portfolio from the current 188 properties to more than 300 by 2015.
Thomas Dubaere, Accor’s UK & Ireland managing director, said: “Our investment in these four new hotels, two of which we will own and manage, is another step in our strategy to build on our leadership position and further grow Accor’s presence in the UK. It is also part of our flexible active asset management plan.
“While we are focused on reducing our portfolio’s capital intensity, we have the financial strength to invest in owned assets, for key locations and flagship hotels for our brands.”
